Document pseudonymization: files
Supported Formats: Doc, Docx, Xls, Xlsx, Pdf, Txt, Png, Tiff, Jpg, Jpeg, Msg, and Pptx
When pseudonymizing or anonymizing a specific file, it is important to understand the difference between both concepts. In this article, we focus on pseudonymization, which is reversible and therefore requires you to take into account some critical details.
Details such as the security password and the file name are essential when reverting the pseudonymization process in Nymiz—something that does not apply to anonymization.
To pseudonymize, simply select one of the options available in the tool: Files or Free Text. Then, choose the data substitution method (Masking, Tokenization, or Substitution), configure your preferences, and generate a security password for the specific case.
To help you better understand the step-by-step process, below you’ll find a short video tutorial showing how to pseudonymize a document using the “Files” option.
IMPORTANT: In the case of handwritten or digital signatures, barcodes, and QR codes, the process is completely irreversible. This means that the specific data cannot be recovered once the pseudonymization reversion has started.
