Data substitution methods

Masking, tokenization, or substitution

When anonymizing or pseudonymizing sensitive data in your documents, Nymiz offers three substitution methods:

  • Masking: Data is hidden with asterisks or blacklining (black boxes).

  • Tokenization: Data is replaced with tokens composed of a prefix indicating the infotype (PER, LOC, WEB, DAT) and a number (to differentiate them).

  • Synthetic Data Substitution: Data is replaced with other values of the same nature and length. Example: if the original is a male name with surnames, it will be replaced by another male name with surnames, matching the same number of characters.

By selecting any of these methods, you can generate a fully anonymized document tailored to the specific outcome you need in each case.
